City Tour of Roseville
The City of Roseville is a suburban community of 33,690, located in the
northern Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. Located on two major
highway arterials (I-35W & State Highway 36), it borders both Minneapolis
and St. Paul, and is a short commute to either downtown area. Roseville
is considered the retail and commercial hub of the northeast suburban
area.
Roseville was incorporated as a city in 1948 with a population of 4,589.
The City experienced dramatic growth in both population and commercial
development in the 1950s and '60s. Since then, the City has shifted its
focus from planning to redevelopment and preservation. Today Roseville
is a mixed-land use community with established neighborhoods, ample open
space, and vibrant retail and commercial development.

Location: The City of Roseville is conveniently located off I35W and
Highway 36 in the northern section of the Twin Cities metropolitan area
and provides easy access to most of the areas major freeway systems including
I35E, I694, and Highway 280. It is the only community that borders both
Minneapolis (Minnesota's largest city) and St. Paul (the state capital)
and is less than a 10-minute commute to either downtown area. Roseville's
location means residents can easily take advantage of all the metropolitan
area has to offer in the way of theaters, major league sporting events,
health care facilities, recreation, places of worship, museums, and other
attractions.

Housing: More than 56 percent of the housing units in Roseville are single-family
detached dwellings, ranging from starter to upscale homes. The City also
offers affordable multiple-family dwellings, apartments, and nearly 1,700
senior and nursing home units.

Institute, McGough Construction, and Veritas Corporation
Shopping: Rosedale, a 1.2 million-square-foot regional shopping mall,
plus six other shopping centers combine to make Roseville one of the leading
retail centers in the upper Midwest.
Parks: There are 28 parks in Roseville covering 660 acres with 64 miles
of trails. Included in the park system is the Harriet Alexander Nature
Center, which offers 52 acres of marsh, prairie, and deciduous/pine forest.
City Services: Roseville's City services are nationally recognized. Both
its Parks and Recreation Department and its Police Department have received
national accreditation, which means they meet national standards of operation.
The Roseville Fire Department holds a Class 3 ISO rating, which places
it among the top in the state. Roseville also holds a AA credit rating
with both Moody's Investors Services and Standard and Poors, which means
financially the city is among the top 2.5% in the nation.
Taxes: Roseville taxes are consistently among the lowest in the Twin
Cities area. The City's policy is to hold tax increases under the rate
of inflation. For many years, City taxes have accounted for less than
15% of a resident's property tax.
